The Raw Food “Un-Challenge” with Ka Sundance and many others!!
Posted in Uncategorized on 05/18/2012 11:17 pm by Banana CommanderBlessings All!!
P.P.S In the first video Ka and Alex (both Masterminds behind this project) discuss their different approaches towards a raw diet. The whole debate between eating animal protein or no animal protein at all. Does it belong in a raw diet or should all animal protein be abandonned? It is not that they fight each other on including animal protein till the bitter end, but the gloves are off
P.P.P.S. Ka has assured me that in the Raw Unchallenge Program, eating animal protein is NOT promoted in any sense. He’s just someone that is open to hear (and debate) somebody else’s point of view. Learning Both sides of any debate only brings us into more knowledge in our own. Its only when we become heated in the presence of anthers point of view that we are not grounded in ours…
Kendall Bites, My Favourite Stew and Charlize too!! :)

Just a Quick little Nibble for you, sharing a Simple Dinner at My Sister Kara’s pad, using her Brand New Vitamix Blender!!!! WHoaaa!!
Sweet Charlize aka Charlie helps us out by Blending n providing smiles n Laughs.
Oh n the scandelous Recipe, Yes that was a dirty trick wasn’t it!
A ramped up recipe from my “101 Frickin’ Rawsome Recipes” can be found Below!!
Hope you love both the Video and Recipe!!
Stew stew stew, I love raw vegan Stew!!! I must admit Raw Stew’s are one of my absolute favourite dinner dishes to make. I find myself making at least 1 – 3 stews a week, for sure my most commong dinner meal! This recipe is one of my favourite stews, one I have been making tons recently.
Sweet and Savoury Bok Choy Stew
5 tomatoes (1 lb / 460 g)
2 mangos (.75 lb / 345g)
2 small zucchini (.5 lb / 230 g)
1/2 head nappa Cabbage (.5 lb / 230 g)
1 – 2 bunches cilantro (.2 -.4 lb / 90 – 180 g)
1 bunch of Bok Choy (1 lb / 460 g)
1 small avocado (.4 lb / 180g)
optional – 3 green onions, hot pepper to taste
Dice 2/3 of the tomato and all of the zucchini, toss together in a bowl. Cut the Stems of the Nappa Cabbage and Bok Choy into cubes and add to the bowl, place the greens and cabbage tops aside. Blend the Remaining Tomato with the mango and optional Green onion and hot pepper. Add The Bok Choy greens, Cabbage tops and cilantro to the blender, blend at slow speeds creating a chunky constancy. Use a few celery stalks to push the greens into the mix or if you are using a Vita Mix simply use the tamper. Pour over the Chunks and mix well, slice and cube the avocado adding last so the cubes don’t simply “mash in”! Enjoy! (aprox 775 cal.)
Hope you love love love that one!!
There will be many other stew’s, Noodle Dishes, Soups, Appetizers, Wraps, ethnic Dishes and more in my upcoming “Cravings Busters Transitional Raw Recipes” available late this summer
Wishing you much much

Posted in Uncategorized on 05/05/2012 09:25 am by Banana CommanderBlissings All!!
So so stoked to share this fun Kendall Bite showcasing last weekends family Trip to Comicon in Calgary!!!
So much to say but hey, the video really sums it up well!!:)
Hope you love love love it!
Comicon is a really sweet Sci-fi Commic Book Festival that goes on all over the place, this April it was in Calgary Alberta. Comicon has tons of booths filled with collectables, clothing and comics from your favourite tv shows, comics, movies, and even video games! This year the biggest draw was the fact that they had The Whole Star Trek The Next Generation Cast, Star Trek TNG Cast, at the festival!
I grew up Watching Star Trek TNG and must confess
I am a Trekie!!
This video shares This weekend trip I went on to Comicon to Meet the Whole Star Trek TNG Crew with my Brother Curtis, Sister in law Heather, Nephew Jacob and Niece Allijah! We all went dressed up as Characters from “Dr Who”! Do you love Dr Who? I do!! Curtis Was Rory, Alli was Emilia Pond, Heather River Song, Jacob Dr Who and I was Captain Jack Harkness! I love Torchwood!!

Us Dressed Up as The Dr Who Cast for Comicon
On the way to the Festival, at the festival and on the way home we shared some epic times and got into some antics n sweet tom foolery! Gotta Love it!!
I got a chance to do a short Interview with Michael Dorn, who plays Worf on Star Trek TNG as well as on Star Trek Deep Space Nine. He is easily one of my favourite Star Trek Characters and also turns out to Be a Vegan Actor! Once I found this out I wanted to share my stickers with him, at that time I also offered him a copy of my “101 Frickin’ Rawsome Recipes”. He let me know Brent Spiner, Data on Star Trek, was a vegetarian, so I decided I would give the whole crew My recipe Book as a Gift for giving me so much over the years.
There are a few Secrets Released in the video, as well as Interactions with the Star Trek TNG Cast!! Watch it Silly!
I got a chance to talk to nearly every one of the cast, Bret Spiner was really excited to get the gift of my 101 Frickin Rawsome Recipes, he even shared that his girlfriend is a Vegan, stoked to be able to share the simple sweetness of a raw food diet with them! Gates McFadden, Dr Crusher from Star Trek told me that she is Dairy and Gluten Free and is another vegetarian Actor, she was really excited to get my Raw recipe book!! Denise Crosby, Tasha Yar on Star Trek TNG, exclaimed that she is a Vegetarian and was really excited to share my stickers and recipe book with others!! I feel so blessed by this opportunity to share my flow with the whole Star Trek Cast, it was really a joy to connect! I didn’t get a chance to talk directly to Will Wheaton, plays him self on “the big bang theory” and Wesley Crusher of Star trek TNG, nor Sir Patrick Stewart, Captain Picard on Star Trek TNG and Professor Xavier from the X-men, nor Jonathan Frakes, William Riker on Star Trek. Although I didn’t talk directly to them I did talk to Their Main Handler, gave him the books and he said he would make sure they got the Gifts. I am confident I actually got my book “101 Frickin’ Rawsome Recipes” to each and every Main Cast Member of Star Trek The Next Generation. So so so Stoked!!

TRA meet The Star Trek TNG Crew at Comicon!
We also met Stan Lee, the biggest Comic Book/ Super Hero Writer that is!! He created Spider man, The Fantastic Four, The X-Men among his most famous, with dozens of other Comic book Characters on his Resume! Being the creator of Marvel Comics, well all this makes him a Legend.
While there I had to purchase a Star Trek Captain James T Kirk Bath Robe, I do think I may just Live in this Robe! ahha
Hope you love love love the Video, it does a better job of explaining itself than I do here.
If your still reading this, sorry about my poor grammar and english, well hmm maybe u enjoyed it as much as i did Writing it, so Ill take back that sorry!!

I have a Dream.. TRA Non Profit By Donation Healing Centers
Posted in Uncategorized on 04/27/2012 07:51 am by Banana CommanderBlissings All!!!
Wow wow this is huge, My 100th Video Blog!!!!
I gotta say I am so so excited to share todays blog, its been on my mind for over a year!!
Feeling ready to Unleash, to Manifest, to call Forth my Dream…
I have a Dream….
I see myself Co Creating TRA Non Profit By Donation Healing Centers all around the world. Starting with a Non Profit TRA Charity to help bring in Donations of all sorts, Money, Land, Resources, service, trades, information etc, and then actually creating the first centre, Teaching/Demonstrating Loving service though helping people heal and reach their highest potential though Applying A Simple Holistic Raw Food Lifestyle.
My Dream is to have these centers flowing completely by Donation.
When we all start to live in abundance, centred in the Knowledge that we have much more to share than we ever need to cling onto, we will all truly be wealthy healthy and happy as one family.
I see this as one start to that…
Check out the video for Much Much more!!
Wow so this was a big one to release, I will admit I first wanted to release this video for new years 2012, but I was overwhelmed with work and hesitant for what I see now as silly reasons.
I felt, wow… I am so busy… what if this Manifestation starts rolling, what will I do? Im not sure I could handle creating a healing center too!? Fear based thoughts, all coming back to me, me, me, what will I do… if.. if… if
Ive talked about it, thought about it and shared my Dream with My TRA Surfing Skateboarding Yoga Raw Food Retreat 2012 Goers, with everyone at the wonderful Farm of Life (a amazing raw food healing retreat centre, intrical in creating and manifesting my Dream) with friends family lovers….
and come to the conclusion that its Not about me.
I don’t have to Worry about it, I don’t have to make it personal, I don’t have to do or be anything…
I simply Want to flow my hearts song outward and Create,
Co Create and spread the Simple Blissings of Life in Thought Word n Deed.
Want to me, Seems to be a much more potent Creative tool than any perceived Need!
This dream, while I wish to be a co creator in its manifestation, it really arises out of a collective Want, a pulse for Heart based Centers that anyone can benefit from regardless of being rich, poor, young, old, a pro athlete or couch potato. A place accepting of all, operated and run soley by the donation of time, energy, love, trades, land, services, resources, money, and loving service from both those coming to heal and those coming to teach, its truly a dance for us all anyhow. I feel a collective cry for a place where those who want to change can go and learn how to heal themselves, learn how to reach their highest physical mental and spiritual potential, learn how to be their own Doctor and even more important to be their own best friend.
The greatest gift is that through helping others grow with these truths we come into being these truths, always a mutual growth in the dedication to loving service
I came to the knowing that Regardless of what I time or energy in the now I can put in to this Dream I am supported and guided to those who wish to take part, to those that have abundance to offer themselves in loving service to help co create this Dream. That its not about me but about the Loving Service, the Co Creation, the coming together in spirit sharing all we are so that no one goes without. We all live in such abundance, the more we give the more we receive, its through living this knowledge that the world and all her people will come to know the secret…
We are all one, when we see this and treat each other as such we all have all we need, always in all ways!
I am so excited to get this manifestation snow ball rolling, but I do need your help!!!
Please Share this, spread it, like it Comment on it on youtube, twitter it, get it out there for more eyes to see, more ears to hear and more hearts to touch.
I don’t know how to start a Non Profit, I really could use help with that, can you help?
I don’t have a ton of time in the now, would you like to assemble a team, admin this dream when the snowball starts flying?
The concept is that everything is done by donation starts here, can you donate some time, energy, land, love, support, information, services, money, to seeing centres like this emerge all over the world?
My idea is to start One centre, get it rolling and eventually two, three, who knows maybe four or more! I picture one in BC canada, One in Mexico, possibly one in Hawaii, South America, One in thailand, Europe etc etc!!
I live in the knowing that anything is possible, anything!!
A billionaire could see this tomorrow and say, heck Im just going to sink a few million into this, and Poof the Ball is catapulted!! A landowner in any of these places could read this and say, heck that just feels right, here use my Land, my Organic Orchard. I truly feel this abundance of spirit, this sharing mentality rising on the planet today.
Coming into the concepts of unity, our connection appreciation and love of Mother earth, sharing Nature bounty, the true wealth thats present in good health, flowing with the concepts of natural hygiene, natures design and holistic living these centres are and will be constantly evolving communities, fasting centres, healing centres, schools, retreat centres, sacred spots, feasting grounds, Fruit forests, abundant permiculture havens, filled with elven villages, hobbit holes and human dwellings.
This is just the beginning, a shouting out loud of this dream, a calling into being.
In the now My donations Page can be used for any donations to this cause by simply including in the text box “TRA Dream“. Anything marked that will 100% be put aside for this cause, eventually I will have a separate button, page or even site for the Non Profit, something someone will feel moved to do I am sure!
From 2012 on half of all my Donations from “101 Frickin’ Rawsome Recipes” will now go into a fund that in time will be the “TRA Non Profit Charity” or something of that sort.
If you know how to set up a non profit or have any ideas or wish to contribute or even admin in any way contact me at info@therawadvantage.com
Excited to co create with you!
Remember if all you can donate is the sharing of this video and blog post by posting it on your Facebook, liking it on youtube, twittering it,
Thats Huge!
Lets make this ripple spread n see how fast we can co create these Places of planetary growth n healing.
Much much much more to come!!

Kendall Bites, Skateboarding in Costa Rica n Travel Tips!
Posted in Uncategorized on 04/20/2012 09:05 pm by Banana CommanderBlessings All!!
Got a really Fun n sweet Kendall Bite for you today!!!
Oh Oh my, While I just just got back home to my Family in Saskatoon Saskatchewan Canada, This Nibble Takes you back to Wednesday and Thursday in San Jose Costa Rica!
Packed with some skateboarding action, a natural raw Sports Drink to fuel my Raw Athlete Activity, a Musium tour as well as some Travel Tips for Vegans and Raw Vegans. These simple tips can help any vegan or raw vegan while exersising or traveling.
I hope you love it!!
Well well well, we Start off First with a awesome skateboard session with my good Friend Fredo!! I met Fredo via Couch Surfing last year, now every time I go to Costa Rica I make it a habit to Hang out, enjoy time n sk8!! Thanks again Fredo for your generosity and hospitality, I had a Blast!! So back to the skateboarding, I consider myself a Raw Athlete ahah a Raw Vegan Athlete. There are many Vegan Athletes, a Growing number of Raw Vegan Athletes, and even a fair Number of Vegan Skateboarders, but not a Ton of Raw Vegan Skateboarders. All the Same that Number is Growing, Look out more raw vegan skateboarders a Coming!
I am excited to consult with more skateboarders with my Raw Food Lifestyle coaching, both in person/online 1 on 1 mentoring and as a Full time Live In Raw Lifestyle Coach.
In 2010 I Stayed with Professional Skateboarder Steve Berra, Co creator of The Berrics, and flowed as his full time Live In Raw Food Lifestyle Coach for 8 months. Check the First Blog about that Here. During that time I also Got the Opportunity to Help PJ Ladd and Jim Greco both with Diet and Lifestyle aspects such as Yoga sunshine and many other holistic habits. Here is a Blog post with a Sk8 video I am in from The Berrics Web site!!
Wow off on a Tangent!! While skating at Arena Skate Park in San Jose I used a simple Raw Sports Drink Recipe that I love love love. You can make a number of different Natural Sports Drinks that are Vegan, Raw and tasty as can be. Filled with simple sugars, minerals, vitamins, electrolytes and if desired natural sodium, these can be the simplest, least expensive and best sports drinks around!
I like to mix it up, often using Dates, Rasins, figs even some herbs, its fun to try different combinations.
This Time I made my Raw Sports Drink out of Fresh Spring Water, Rasins and Natrual Dried Apricots. Thats it!!
Best Natural Sports Drink! It tastes like Sweet Apricot Tea!
1/2 Cup Natural Raisins (no oil or sulphites added, preferably organic)
4- 6 Dried Apricots (no sulphur or sulphites added, should be brownish)
750 ml – 1 liter Water
(1 stick Celery, cut up, blended or juiced) Optional
Simply Pour the raisins and apricots (you may want to dice the apricots) in your Water bottle (minimum 500ml, up to 1 litre) fill with Water and wait 1 1/2 – 4 hours!! The longer you wait (up to 8 hours) the more of the natural sugars in the fruit will be pulled into the water by osmosis. If you wish to add some organic sodium simply add some Celery Juice (1 – 2 stalks is tons), or blend a stick of celery with the water before hand or simply add a few chunks into the water. Sip after 45 minutes to 1 1/2 hours of Activity to help keep blood glucose and glycogen levels up. This simple sports drink can help you perform longer, better and recover twice as fast. (Aprox. 235 – 300 calories)
From there to simple tips for traveling as a Raw Vegan. It can be tricky going to the airport or traveling for days as a vegan or as a raw vegan, while airports are stocking more options it still can be a challenge. I have found most countries allow you to travel with banana’s even over international border lines. If you Declare all fruit and talk to the border officials about this they will often allow you to bring your banana’s with you or even other fruit if you plan to eat it on the plane. That being important factor, you can bring fruit on the plane but in many cases you must eat it before getting to customs if traveling over international borders.
A simple tip I found useful for traveling as a raw vegan is to bring Dried Fruit. Dried fruit is allowed while traveling over international borders because it apparently isn’t a threat to the agriculture. Dried fruit such as Apricots, dates, figs, raisins, bananas, mulberries all make great choices. You can also bring lettuce or Celery with no problem and simply eat the dried fruit with the greens, together they make a more well rounded meal and offer the minerals and water to balance the taste and dryness. Hydrating before eating dried fruit or even better rehydrating the dried fruit helps a ton, not to mention is better for dental hygiene. I recommend Brushing and flossing after eating dried fruit, even eating a stick of celery or a apple helps a ton.
This time in the airport I brought some Sapodilla and Mango’s to eat for my 1st and second Breakfast ahahha! Hey they were good and I knew I couldn’t bring them through security once I landed in Atlanta. I ate both fresh fruit meals on the plane. To prepare for my next meal I put about 1 cup of raisins and 5 dried apricots in my water bottle and asked the Stewardess to filly my bottle up with water. I then let it soak until I reached my destination. While you can’t go through security with water my dried fruit had already soaked for 2 hours and was rehydrated, I drank the water and left the rehydrated fruits in the bottle to eat later. Rehydrated fruits are fine to bring through security and over international borders, again a bit of celery and some rehydrated fruit can make a really simple and easy travel food, especially if weight room and durability or fragility is a concern.
I hope this helps a ton and you enjoyed the short video!! this post is way too long ahaha

Kendall Bites, Cashew apples at the Farm of Life!
Posted in Uncategorized on 04/18/2012 03:55 pm by Banana CommanderBlessings all!!
Got a quick Kendall Bite for you, my last one from the Farm of Life
the Best Raw Food Healing Retreat Centre, for the year of 2012!!!
Enjoying and Exploring the Cashew Apple!!!
A beautiful Fruit But what about the Nut?
Are Cashews really Raw, can you really get a Raw Cashew nut?
Learn more about Cashew Nuts and the Wondrous Cashew Fruit in the Video Below
Enjoying the fruit from a wonderful Cashew Apple Tree at the Farm of Life on my last day at Finca de Vida!
I love love love Cashew fruit, a very strong and unique taste. Some people prefer to juice it as the flesh can be slightly astringent just as some persimmon varieties are. I find, not unlike with persimmons, if you allow the fruit to get very ripe the astrigency goes away. Sometimes people are put off by very ripe fruit, often because of the fat content of their diet which intern effects their insulin function and ability to uptake sweet ripe fruit. If you or someone you know likes green banana’s, hahah look to the fat content of the diet, preference and enjoyment is vastly effected by our physiology, something we create!
Back to the Cashew apple, Most people don’t know that the Cashew Nut actually sits on top of the cashew apple. That in many places people simply eat the fruit and toss the cases nut aside. The nut is contained in a hard shell that is filled with a very caustic oil, a oil that is very hard to wash off and so caustic, or acid, that it will burn your flesh creating large blisters and sores. The cashew Nut is traditionally roasted or fired to help dissipate this caustic oil making it easier to shell and clean. Special tools are used to harvest the Cashew nut after having fired or roasted them. If you attempt to harvest the nut raw and damage the nut in any way it is ruined because the oil penetrates its flesh. A truly vital and raw nut can be sprouted, i have yet to see any “raw cashews” “truly raw cashews” sprout after soaking and rinsing for days.
I challenge anyone to buy the “truly raw cashews” or try a few different kinds of cashews and try to sprout them. Soak 4 – 8 hours and place in a sprouting tray or bag, rinse 2 times a day and see if you can make it happen. I have not and have tried more than a few times. I also have never heard of anyone successfully sprouting a cashew from anything except the Whole raw fruit/seed itself. I personally do not belive you can buy truly raw cashews without some sort of heat processing. Cashews to me are the Crack of the Nut family, every time I eat them I want to eat more than I need and I feel gross immediately after and even the next day. Being high in carbohydrates and fat, for a nut, makes the cashew Nut very hard to digest, often causing gas and digestive issues.
A little bit here and there for “special occasions”, fancy recipes or otherwise not at all if you find yourself binging on them would be my recommendation. I uses them on a rare occasion in a few select recipes but do not consider them a optimal food choice.
Love the Cashew Fruit, Love the Cashew Nut but it doesn’t seem to love me back as much as the fruit!!!
Love you Farm of Life, Brian Jody and the whole Farm of Life family!!!
Hope you really enjoyed this post and video
much more to come

Kendall Bites, Simple Raw Pancakes for Dr Sam’s Retreat!

Wow already time for another Kendall Bite, this Time Sharing A simple Raw Vegan Recipe for…… Banana Pancakes!!!!

Loving every minute of it in fact!!

***p.s Look below to see why I feel honoured to be in a new Video From Dr Douglas Grahams Foodnsport.com youtube channel ***
“How Much Fruit Is Too Much? Dr. Graham, Durianrider, Chris Kendall, 80/10/10″
Raw Vegan Banana Pancakes (8 medium Pancakes)
12 – 15+ ripe Burro Banana’s
1/4 cup Raw Whole Chia Seeds
Blend enough Ripe Burro Banana’s (large dense banana, often found in asian markets) to fill the two litter vitamix container. If using a different type of blender you will want to do it in two batches and grind the chia in a coffee grinder. Add the Chia to the Banana mixture and blend until very smooth. This is really really thick you will want to use your tamper or otherwise blend in two batches. Let sit and set for 5 minutes to thicken up. You can optionally add cinnamon and or raisins or whole blue berries. Pour the thick “batter” onto Teflex lined dehydrator trays, 4 per tray (if your using the Large Excalibur dehydrator) attempting to make then as thick as possible. I find I can make 8 per 2 litres of “Batter”. Use a spoon if needed to smooth out the centre, perk up the sides and make a more perfectly round shape. Dehydrate for 8 – 12 hours or until fairly dry with a thick skin on top. Place another Tray without the teflex on top of the Pancakes and flip the screen. This is where watching the video comes in handy!! Slowly peel off the Teflex sheet and unveil your nearly done raw vegan banana pancakes!! Dehydrate 2 – 3 hours further until you can pick them up without them stretching or falling apart.
Serve with any of the following, Mango Date Syrup, Peach apricot Syrup… coconut water… Banana Ice cream… Banana smoothie… sliced sweet/sub acid fruit…. sweet celery slaw…. Sweet stacks…. etc.

Full Interview Transcript:
K: Hello everybody. This is Ka Sundance and my dear friend, Chris Kendall.
C: Hello guys. Blessings.
K: Hello everyone in YouTube world or wherever you’re watching. In this YouTube, I would like to share the space with my dear friend Chris. He’s staying with us here in our farm for a couple of days, while our cats are running around like crazy. And we’re just sharing, he’s sleeping with us. And we co-create, we share and….
C: In a separate room (laughs).
K: …in a separate room, that’s right. No, we don’t share the room with each other, not yet. No, I’m married, I’m happily married, and we have four kids. So, we shouldn’t have talked about this.
C: I’m sorry. Now it’s on YouTube.
K: You brought it up now.
C: I’m sorry. I’m sorry (breathes deeply).
K: I’m serious right now…very dead serious. I would like to share with you today the 80-10-10 diet…high fruit-based diet. It’s not how I live, but Chris has been doing this for several years. And this movement is growing kind of like crazy, I feel, and so, Chris is one of the few guys I know personally where this lifestyle is working really successfully.
I thought I would present this to you who are interested in health and raw foods. And that he can share some of his secrets, why this works for him. So maybe I’ll just give you the word right now. What would you say is…how do you make the 80-10-10, high fruit-based diet work?
C: Okay. First, I would really like to thank you for giving me this opportunity, because this is my passion, this is my heart, and this is what I like to present. Because I’ve been studying nutrition for 12 years, and when I was in schooling for nutrition, I found the raw food diet and I found and met Doug Graham and 80-10-10. And it just simplified diet, lifestyle and health to the bare minimum…just to common sense. That’s what kind of what hit me so hard…just the common sense of it. And when I started applying it and when I wanted to apply it, it was easy. It was really, really, easy.
And that would be the first tip that I would give: Stepping away from the, “I need to” mentality or the “I should” mentality, or away from the things we think intellectually we need for ourselves and step back into what you truly want. Align your lifestyle and your actions with what you truly want. So if you really, really want…and really check in with yourself…that’s what it’s all about: coming into yourself and looking at where you’re at right now. Looking at how you’re there and what kind of actions are getting you where you are and decide from there if you need to change your actions. Because if you’re satisfied with where you’re at, you’re not going to feel any need. But if you’re not satisfied, you need to check yourself.
If you want to experience the highest levels of health, if you want to really detox yourself at a really deep cellular level, if you want increased athletics, if you want more clarity…then cleaning up your diet, no matter how you do it, is the answer. Myself, I found that high fruit, low fat, lots of fruits, lots of vegetables just really gives me everything. There’s no equation in health, there’s no equation in, the energetics or the ecology or animal cruelty or anything like that that you can really find a negative for. So, to me, it’s just really made sense in that way.
K: And it’s true. Just so you know, yesterday he was sleeping here with us and I saw him yesterday and he was eating 10 mangoes or something…or 8 mangoes. I don’t know, but it was a lot of mangoes he was eating at once. And you still have a lot of muscles and stuff (Chris shows muscles).
One thing people run into doing this lifestyle is that they have problems with cravings. So, they say they are not really satisfied just eating fruit. So, what is your secret? Just eat more? What is your answer to this concern people have about not being satisfied on a high-fruit based diet?
C: You know, that’s a super good question, it’s a multi-layered question, because, first off, you have to ask yourself if you are really satisfied. Because if you’re not satisfied in life in general and you’re seeking for food to satisfy you, no matter what you go to, you’re not going to be satisfied as soon as you’ve eaten the food.
K: That’s a good answer right there.
C: So, realistically, most people I coach, or a good percentage of people I coach…it’s centered around emotions, it’s centered around really finding the root of their unease or of their dissatisfaction and acknowledging that, allowing it to be, sitting with it and pouring love and acceptance into it. Because without that love and without that acceptance, you’re not going to transcend it, and you’re not going to get past it.
There’s always a resistance against it, which always pulls it back and covers you up. So, coming into a more healthful relationship with food and discovering why you’re truly eating is important. We’re eating to satiate and we’re eating for enjoyment, but we’re eating to nourish ourselves. And it’s definitely, definitely true that when we’re on a more high-nutrient based diet, a more high-volume based diet, we can satiate those triggers.
When we actually fulfill our nutrient needs, it’s a lot easier to be happy. It’s a lot easier to be content, because our hormones come into natural balance. Our energy needs come into balance. Our sleep schedules come into balance with all that hormonal balance. And so, it makes it easier.
But a lot of people find they have cravings very simply because they’re used to a high-calorie, low-volume, low-nutrient based diet. They’re always getting satisfied calorically but they’re never getting satisfied nutritionally or volume-wise, so they’re eating, eating, eating the wrong foods and getting fatter and fatter and more depressed. When you switch to a really…
K: And malnutrition on top of it.
C: Malnutrition, which contributes to all those feelings…all those emotional problems. The more toxic their body is, the more crud they have flowing through their system. And a lot of the time, your mood swings, your mood swings up and down, aren’t even necessarily you. It’s the toxemia, or the by-products of the intestinal bacteria, flooding your bloodstream with crap, and your body is reacting to that. You get headaches, you feel nauseated and anxious, and you feel like crap.
K: If I can sum this up for a second. You said it was a multi-layered answer. And one thing is to work on your mindset. If you have cravings, one thing is to really not find the satisfaction from food but to work on your mindset. And the second question was to really, truly enhance your diet in order to get more nutrients flowing through your bloodstream and therefore, keeping depression or any of those things down.
C: Coming back into balance, and then the third thing is—because people are so used to that low-volume, low-nutrition, high-calorie diet—when you step into a high-volume, high-nutrition, low-calorie diet, which that’s the raw food diet, the exact opposite, they find that they’re way more satisfied in smaller meals, because they’re getting more nutrition than they’ve ever eaten and they’re getting more volume than they’ve ever eaten. But they’re not meeting that calorie fill.
So they feel confused, because they feel, “I’m so stuffed, I’m so satisfied, but then I’m still craving food at the end of the day.” It’s because they’re getting more nutrition and more volume, but they’re not quite adept at getting the calories, which comes with the volume, the amount of food. Like you said, you saw me eat about eight mangoes, and actually before that I ate 12 tomatoes.
I’ve been doing this for eight years. Where I’m at is different from where somebody would be at on the first week, month, year, or maybe even the first two years. It took me about two years to really simplify my diet and expand my digestive capacities to be able to eat two meals.
K: So, then, I think this would be the interesting point now for most people watching this, I know, right now…because you always see people like you promoting this who are at the point where they just eat almost mono meals and big amounts of that. So, how did you do this? And what can you tell people who are just starting with this diet who can’t eat just eat 20 tomatoes and be happy with this? What is the way of transitioning to this high-fruit based diet?
C: Well, first off—and this comes back to how to succeed too in it—is that you pick the foods you love the most. I don’t eat anything for nutrition anymore. I don’t eat anything because I think it’s good for me. I don’t eat anything out of intellectual concepts.
K: (Picks up dog in lap. Dog yaps) I thought you wanted to be with us.
C: I think he does. You know, I really eat out of love. I eat the foods that I just naturally vibe with and I enjoy the absolute most and I’m the most satisfied with. So, first and foremost, I’d say, eat as many meals as it takes of the foods you enjoy the most, starting with fruit.
That’s the thing. You start with fruit and you eat, literally, between as much as you want and as much as you can. I learned from Doug Graham that you eat between as much as you want and as much as you can. Once you’re getting to the point where you’re pretty full, just have a little bit more.
If you stop enjoying it, that to me is the body’s signal. If you stop enjoying, don’t force it. I’m not a calorie pusher who says, “You’ve got to have this much every single day.”
No, as long as you’re eating between as much as you want and as much as you can, and being totally satisfied. And once you stop enjoying it, stop. Grab some vegetables. Eat some lettuce, eat some greens, eat some celery, or eat some cucumbers. Whatever you want…and then if you feel like a little bit more sweet, go back to it, because lettuce, celery, all those tender greens, they mix really well with fruits.
This is a recipe for success. Just when you’re hungry, eat fruit. If you’re not hungry for fruit, either you could be just drinking some water, taking a breath, or going for a walk until you really are hungry. Or eat some vegetables. You can follow up any fruit meal with vegetables if you want, but you don’t have to.
K: I like this very simple notion. If you’re craving sugar or you’re hungry for sweet, you eat fruits. And if you want salty, then you go for veggies.
C: That’s it. Eat until you’re full…and eat until you’re satisfied, right? This is the guilt-free diet. You can eat as much of the foods you want. There’s no restriction.
Literally, I tell some people in the beginning—because it is a challenge to expand their capacity—not only physically but mentally. And the biggest thing is that we’re so tied up in the mentality, “I can only eat so much. I should fill my stomach half full… If I eat too much, I’m a pig”…especially with women.
No, when you’re eating fruits, literally try and get fat. I dare you. Seriously, try. But once you stop enjoying it, stop. That’s the ticket. Literally, eat as much as you want. When you stop enjoying it, stop.
If you do that as many times as it takes during the day to be satisfied so you’re not craving food all night, then you don’t have cravings any more. And for most people, that means that’s 4, 5, or 6 meals a day when they’re first starting. And it’s important to trust your instincts. And when you stop enjoying it, stop. Because that might mean 4 bananas and you’re done. That’s why you’re eating 6 meals of 4 bananas.
But eventually, not only your physiology but your actual physical ability to eat and digest larger meals just grows when you’re running by that concept—between as much as you want and as much as you can. When you’re running in those kinds of concepts, then you’re stretching your capacity physically, mentally, and digestively…so eventually, you can get down to 2 or 3 meals like I d. I can eat about 15 – 20 bananas in a sitting, and then not be hungry at all for 6, 7, or even 8 hours. To me, that’s freeing.
K: It is, definitely. But again, we have to say that you’ve been doing this for many, many years right now.
C: I’ve been doing it for years.
K: How do you respond to people who have tried the diet and told that they have been malnourished, or they really became sick, or also checked their levels and they were just not really… You have more nutrients in the vegetables, more minerals than you would have in the fruits. How do you respond to those concerns? A lot of people are afraid of being malnourished on a high-fruit based diet.
C: That’s a great question. It’s one I get a lot of the time. It ties into protein and nutrient needs. When I really came to understand…and like I said, I’ve been studying nutrition for a long, long time. I studied from Chinese doctors to Ayurvedas to classic nutritionists to holistic nutritionists. I’m a holistic nutritionist myself.
And then I’ve learned from raw food experts— yourself and other raw food experts like Dr. Graham and a host of other people. And the more I research about the nutritional benefits of fruits and the nutritional qualities of fruits, and then also about our distinct nutrient needs, I came in to the understanding that fruit, as a whole, fits our actual nutrient needs better than any food on the planet.
If we look at how much protein we need—how much essential fatty acids we need, how much carbohydrates we need, how much vitamins, how much minerals, all of those things—as a pie graph, fruit matches that whole pie graph and hits more of the walls in every single category than any other food. Any nutrient that we can look at that is a food-related nutrient…so, vitamin D and B12 aren’t necessarily food-related nutrients, so we’ll leave those aside for now.
But when we’re looking at the food-related nutrients, fruit is always either number one as the best source, or number two. And, in most categories, it’s number one. But in the ones that it’s number two, vegetables come number one in, which is actually fiber, and minerals and co-minerals, but they complement each other well. They really complement each other well.
When I understand that these foods are the highest nutrient foods per calorie out of any food on the planet, once again, if I’m getting all my calories from fruits and vegetables, I literally can’t be getting more nutrition.
So, what it really stems back to when people have nutritional issues is either:
- They’re coming into it with nutritional issues and it’s going to take them a while to rebalance and to come back up, or
- They have very, very prominent digestive issues. And that happens a lot, because sometimes people think, “You need this many calories per day and you’ve got to stuff yourself and if you don’t do it….” If you overwork your digestive system and you’re just pounding back food when your body isn’t ready for it, you’re going to end up with a lack of proper digestion, without good utilization and absorption.
K: So, how would you deal with that problem then? Because the second problem seems to be more like a thing that you need to take good care of. Because if you have a digestive problem it means you can’t absorb the minerals and the nutrients the way a healthy system is able to. What do you do then?
C: Well, I don’t like cookie-cutter approaches. There definitely are some generic answers to that. But with each person I would specify what works, what vibrates, what brings up the least amount of stress with them, and what works with their lifestyle. In ideal circumstances, what I would say if someone has a severe digestive disorder, personally I would go towards fasting. But some people are very fearful of that. Some people are in an environment or in a lifestyle that they just can’t do it.
So there are other options. In most cases I would say fasting. Next to fasting would be mono-eating. So just very simply, eating one food at a time, when you’re hungry to full. It could be anything. I’ve done bananas. I’ve done melons. I’ve done mangoes. I’ve even done tomatoes for a short period of time. But simplifying a diet to a point where your digestive system is still going through, but it’s really eased. There’s minimal work and more vitality that can go towards the cleaning and the healing of the digestive tract. Other methods, you could do a juice fast.
Those would probably really be the three biggest ones, I think: either a full fast, like a water fast, or a juice fast.
K: Colonics?
C: I’m personally not one for colonics because I really feel that it was designed to go in this way, out that way. I understand that the internal bacteria in our digestive system, in our intestine, in our colon, are there for a reason. When we create imbalances from putting stuff in here (points to mouth), for me, the proper way to correct those imbalances is to put it in here.
To me, colonics, enemas, and all those types of things are like a quick fix approach…like a band aid. People think, “Okay, I’ve been doing this, so I’m just going to hit the reset button and try and start from scratch.”
But what I really see happen…and I’ve talked with tons of people who advocate it. I’ve talked to people who are practitioners. I’ve stayed with them, and what I really often see is that it becomes a band aid approach, it becomes a habit, and it becomes an addiction. People think, every time I eat a little too much, or every time I overdo fat, or every time I go on a cooked food binge, I’ll just take an enema. And it’s like a cycle.
I’ve also talked to some practitioners who used to do that. They used to recommend enemas, and they found that some get trouble from it. They become imbalanced, and a lot of our absorption happens in our colon, right? When you do the enema, you take out all the good bacteria as well as all the bad bacteria. And it leaves you in a state where your body is less able to absorb nutrients for a while, until those bacteria colonies are regrown.
K: Yes, That’s right.
C: So if we’re habitually doing it, we’re really lowering our ability to absorb those nutrients. Instead, if we just get consistent with healthful lifestyle practices; we put fiber in our body this way. Everything flushes out. All fruits and vegetables are natural probiotics, right? So these foods help and feed the health-promoting bacteria colonies in our intestine and within our colon that help digest and utilize those and create nutrients.
Absorption is really magic. Scientists can’t really figure it out…because how it goes from going into our body then all of a sudden being us. It’s bacteria work…it’s not us. And if we don’t have that natural balance, if we’re constantly wiping it out, we don’t get all we can from our food.
K: It makes total sense. I would say it’s a very, very, supernatural approach. Again, if you would look at nature, no animal does an enema or something like that.
C: No, it’s dangerous.
K: But they also don’t eat junk food very much.
C: No, no. I can recognize, and I apologize to interrupt you. I can really recognize that there is no cookie cutter; there is no black or white. There is no, “This is the only way.” I really recognize that, and I personally do feel that there could be some instances where someone is extremely toxic and they have like a crazy bunged up system, and they say, “I’m dedicated…I’m going to do about two or three rounds of colonics to empty myself out, and then I’m actually really going to stick with this. And I’m going to go through this way and just eat those natural pro-biotic foods.”
I recognize that it is a possible approach that could help people.
But I do also recognize that it can create yo-yo-like tendencies where every time they binge, they go back and they wipe out their colon…it creates a trouble addiction, and there is the possibility of damage. Because any time you’re shoving stuff up to places where it doesn’t go, and you’re putting pressure in there, you can have rupturing, you can push bacteria that’s in the colon into the intestine that you don’t want.
I’ve heard of stories of people who have done one or two enemas or colonics, and from then on, they couldn’t go to the bathroom without taking one. I don’t think that’s a common thing, but it’s a risk.
K: Yes, yes.
C: There is a risk associated with any invasive practice.
K: It makes sense. It’s so forceful thing that you do to your system.
The last question I have for you is in regards to teeth. I also was reading about people, and also, the first summer we were eating a very high fruit based diet. But again, it was the first year, so I wouldn’t judge too much upon this, because we were eating lots of cooked food before this.
But, I had the feeling after one year with the kids…that the teeth weren’t as shiny or bright as they used to be. So, what is your response if people say that the teeth get de-mineralized on the 80-10-10 diet? How would you respond to this? How would you solve this problem?
C: Okay. That’s also a great question as well, and it’s also a multi-layered question. Because…
K: Lots of sugar. People always think that, you know, it’s so much sugar I eat with only fruit. Sorry.
C: Sure, for sure. Tooth health is a complex issue, because I don’t know if there’s any diet on the planet that promises perfect dental health. Rarely is it that anyone comes into any diet with perfect dental health.
Dental health and bone health is really a cumulative thing. It’s not something that within a week, month, or even a year, it’s directly related to what you’re doing right now. It’s something that takes a while to build up and to degrade.
So, a lot of people come in to a healthful diet in a crazy, acidic state. They’re been treating themselves really poorly for a long time. And when you’re really highly acidic or when you’re consistently eating foods that create an acidic environment in the body, the body— if it can’t neutralize it with alkalinity in the bloodstream or the tissues—it will go to the bones. It will go to the teeth.
A lot of people come into this diet not knowing that they’ve already been sucking minerals out of their teeth and out of their bones for years. And they’re coming into it in a brittle state.
Then they get into this diet and they say, “This is the perfect diet. I don’t need to ever brush my teeth. I don’t need to do anything,” because some people advocate that. I don’t.
I think taking care of yourself in every single way—nourishing and nurturing yourself in every single way—is really important. And part of that is good dental hygiene…brushing your teeth really well at least once a day.
If I were to pick one between flossing and brushing, I’d pick flossing. I carry floss around with me, and I floss after almost every single meal, and otherwise brush at least once a day…sometimes once every two days. But I think that’s really, really important, you know.
Personally I use baking soda maybe once or twice a month. I find it just has a bit of abrasiveness, and it shines the teeth up, makes them nice and clean and white. And it works really well for me. I do find that if I don’t ever do that, my teeth get a little bit kind of yellowish. Not like I’m a smoker or a coffee drinker.
Otherwise, I think it’s really important, too, to get enough calories, which we kind of talked about. If you’re not getting enough calories, you’re not getting enough total nutrients, you’re not getting enough nutrition and then, once again, your body is going to be leeching from your body before going into a depleted state. And after you cause problems in your body, you’ll be getting into different kind of areas of depletion and malnutrition.
So, getting enough calories first, and then eating enough greens: both of those things are really important. With greens and with fruit in general—I don’t recommend stuffing stuff down just out of the intellectual concept. But instead, what I really recommend is eating for enjoyment, eating for satiation, and experimenting, you know, like try different things. Try green smoothies, try stews…try green soups…Frickin’ Rawsome Recipes (laughs)…
K: That was nice, huh?
C: Frickin’ Rawesome Recipes, on my site, by donation.
C: But, yes, you can try different ways to get greens in. It’s simple some time: eat as much fruit as you want, then grab a head of lettuce and eat it. If you’re enjoying it, grab another head. If you’re not enjoying it, stop. I always find that I go in cycles. Some weeks, months out of the year, I’m just eating greens like crazy, and I’m eating three pounds a day.
Other weeks, other months, I’m eating very little, but I’m eating tons of tomatoes, and cucumbers and zucchinis….other fruit veggies that have a bit more of a mineral balance. I think through getting enough food that way, chewing really, really well—because if we don’t chew it well, our stomach doesn’t have teeth—so, if we don’t chew it well or blend it, we’re not going to be getting the full nutritional benefit.
And then also, I’m also just a huge, huge believer in food combining, mono eating and sequential eating. All of those things, they’re all explained in my recipe book and on my site. But all that kind of stuff just streamlines digestion so that we’re getting all we can out of our food, because in the end, it doesn’t matter what we eat, it matters what we absorb. The simpler we can make it, the more we eat foods that are easily, easily digested and have a high nutrient balance and that we enjoy, the better we’re going to do.
K: That’s right.
C: It’s really simple when it comes down to it: eat the foods you love. Eat as much of them as you want, with no restriction, and then, just vary it throughout the year as the seasons come. It’s just natural, right?
K: Makes total sense. So, it’s not what you eat, it’s what you’re able to absorb that does count. It’s totally right. So, with those really wise words, I think we’ve covered really a lot of different aspects in this interview. I really would like to thank you very much.
C: Sorry if I was yelling, guys (laughs).
K: No, I can feel that you have so much knowledge and wisdom and you want to bring it out fast. I can understand; we just have so much time here.
Again, it’s Chris Kendall of The-Raw-Advantage.com, that’s your website. You also have a YouTube channel. What was the YouTube channel name again?
C: The YouTube channel is YouTubeUserCK1nsh.
K: Oh, my. Maybe I’ll put a link below the video player. You can also check him out. He’s also a skater. He’s a cool guy. It’s not like some of us, being un-cool. He’s a skater.
C: Skateboarder, yogi.
K: Yogi, whatever…fruitarian, or a high-fruit based diet. And thanks so much for being on this interview.
C: My pleasure. Banana commander.
K: Here he comes.

“5 Second Abs” or “Fat to Fit in 5 Seconds” You Decide!
Posted in Uncategorized on 03/07/2012 12:38 am by Banana CommanderBlessings All!!
Wow what a title and you get to decide what I should have used for the title, should have oh my as its already done!!!!
What comes to mind? A crazy Ab workout, some get ripped quick scheme, pills therapies or secret foods? hmm?
Well you will have to watch the video to find out!!!
Secrets revealed within!!! Ohhhhhh
Hope you love it!!
Some non revealing tidbits…
Within I give love n praise to my friend Kemy for his awesome “UR Awesome” and “Love Who You Are” t-shirts, at 10 $ a shirt they are a amazing deal, they also give one to someone in need for every one bought! Peep them out at URawesome.org
I also give out a challenge asking someone to weigh and measure the volume of a average day of raw food for a 3000 calorie diet, and then match that against a Standard american day’s worth of food including all drinks and water assuming they would maintain the same level of hydration. My estimates put them almost identical minus the extra finer in the whole food diet. I don’t drink too much water on average, often a few sips to a litter per day. Of course this all depends on what type of fruits I am eating, how active I am that day as well as the climate n a few other variables. A good rule of thumb with Hydration is that its optimal to urinate a clear steady stream about 8 – 12 times in a 24 hour period. Count away today weeee!!!
Hope you love the video, much more to come!!
Here is the Teaser Pic!!! Oh my!!

C: Another raw advantage interview for you right here, Chris Kendall. We got Karen Ranzi.
K: Hi
C: Welcome Karen, thank you so much. We’re actually at Karen’s house right now. Where are we again? We’re in Ramsey?
K: We’re in Ramsey. Now, it’s spelled differently than my last name. My last name is R-A-N-Z-I, ok? It’s not your typical name.
C: Which is mistaken…
K: Oh, I’ve been misspelled; even on the Internet people misspell it.
C: Yea, because I thought it was Ramsey actually, then we came to Ramsey, and I was like “Wait, what the heck?” Because I’m Kendall and I live on Candle, and it’s kind of similar. That’s kind of weird. We just came form the Woodstock Fruit Festival, and this is the last interview and I’m happy to get you Karen, to get you here because we’re talking a bit back there. But, you know, now we’re here. So this is good. But Karen’s a long-term raw foodist. How long have you been on raw food?
K: Close to 18 years.
C: 18 years, that’s very impressive. And you’re also a mother and an author and a whole bunch more. You’re a biting entrepreneur, and you’ve been that for a while right?
K: Yep, I’ve been teaching my creating healthy children class even before the book “Creating Healthy Children” came out. I’ve been travelling, going to health institutes, and health festivals and seminars all over the United States. Now it looks like I’m going to have the opportunity to go and spread the word in Europe.
C: Beautiful, that’s awesome.
K: Because I’m just passionate about spreading the word. I know that people feel comfortable as adults to eat raw foods: fruits and vegetables, as a life style. But very often they don’t feel comfortable for their own children.
C: Yea, that’s true.
K: And its my goal to show people that this way of eating is natural and that it is the way that we are meant to eat and that we need to get back to roots in order to have healthy families. And it’s the only way to do it, to go to raw fruits and vegetables, fresh and uncooked. My own grandmother told me as I was growing up what had happened to her in the early 1920’s she read a book called “The Mucusless diet healing system” by Arnold Ehret, and it came out around 1917. She read it in the early 1920’s, she had asthma and emphysema and the doctors told her she was going to die. I mean she had a really sever emphysema. And she healed in under a year from going to vegetarian and then vegan and then raw foods. And as I was growing up, she was frequently living with us and she told me all the time, tell your mother not to cook the food.
C: That’s so amazing.
K: She’s cooking the energy out of it.
C: You’re really fortunate because it’s not common that we have the older generation telling us that. Other than you know not all raw all the time I’m sure, eats your fruits and vegetables. But to have that concrete example in your life.
K: I was one of these people who was really fortunate because most of the people I am meeting when I go out and do my talks they’re hearing this and some of them are coming from health and they just want to lead healthy lives and increase their life potential. And then there’s other people coming from a situation of illness and they want to feel better. But most of them didn’t have anybody in their family who was telling them to do this. So I had it in my childhood and I ignored it for many years but when my own child was ill, that’s when it came back to me. And of course I didn’t want my child to be ill. And nothing else was working. This was the only thing that was effective.
C: So you’ve gone through it. You’ve had the experience of raising raw children, the ups and the downs, the social aspects of it. You know, puberty, I mean everything from…
K: All the way through, yea.
C: All through, so…
K: And my own personal experiences. Because I had cystic acne all over my face and my back for about 20-25 years and I was going to two different dermatologists and I was getting hydrochrotisol shots in my face. Very painful.
C: Yea
K: And I kept asking the dermatologists “Does it have anything to do with what I’m eating?” because my father was telling me it has a lot to do with what I’m eating.
C: Oh no
K: “Nothing to do with what you’re eating. You can eat all the cheese doodles you want.” Because I love cheese doodles.
C: But wait, I thought unhealthy skin tissues had something to do with damaged EFAs and blah blah blah. Yea, dermatologists are pretty crazy.
K: It was really very simple. It was just a matter of changing the diet and getting a lot of water rich foods into my diet. The foods that I was eating were all depleted. You know, whether it was cooked or dehydrated, it was all very depleted and acid forming in my body. And once I switched to a diet that was high in fresh plant foods, 3 months and the skin was clear.
C: That’s so awesome. You were fortunate too to catch on with Arnold Ehret. He’s an amazing teacher and has really great books too as well. Was that the first book you actually got to read than, too?
K: Well yea, because that was the book that my grandmother wrote about and talked about. So because, when my child was ill, that was the first thing that popped into my head, after trying all kinds of other paths that lead us nowhere. I then go the book and read that, and then I started reading other books and going out and hearing speakers. That was about 18, well 19 years ago. And about 18 years ago, it just made total sense and I went raw vegan overnight. And I haven’t looked back once. I haven’t had the desire to have other foods.
C: Cordon Blue
K: Yea. The first couple of years, the wintertime was really tough. I was very cold, especially living in the northeast.
C: For sure.
K: So we did take our vacations in the wintertime. We went to Costa Rica.
C: Awe…that’s pretty awesome.
K: That was really nice. Or Columbia, my husband’s family is in Columbia so we would go down there in the winter and that was rally helpful. But in the winter times I was very cold, for the first couple of years. But after the first couple of years…
C: Circulation
K: My circulation improved.
C: Whoop
K: And I was no longer cold. And now I adapt very well to the cold or to the heat.
C: You can’t tell that its like -20 outside and we’re just hanging out because we are super humans. No but I totally agree. For the first two years I was freezing and after that it just improved dramatically, you know. Pretty amazing. With all you’re experience too with raising your kids and helping others, I guess you’ve been doing call in homes for quite a long time. Wow, have you had any amazing stories with that?
K: I have, I had a lot of amazing stories.
C: I bet
K: One of the more recent stories that I was really thrilled to find out was that when I spoke at the Woodstock Fruit Festival this past week, a family came to the festival with my book for me to sign and they had purchased my book a while back. This family was eating a standard food lifestyle. They were not eating healthfully and they didn’t think they were doing anything different than they were supposed to. But the woman became very ill with arthritis and her husband was googling to try to find some help for her. And at the same time they have a little boy who is very young, about two years old, and she couldn’t take care of him. She was in bed and she was crying all the time. It was really very hard for her; she was in such pain from the arthritis. So he googled and he found my book and he read it and they began to transition into a raw food lifestyle. And they came to the festival and she told her story during one of my classes and she was happy that she had learnt this information and that she can now take care of her child. And so that was really exciting for me.
C: That’s so awesome. No greater gift than to be able to help others enter the light of a new path.
K: Definitely.
C: That’s amazing
K: I’ve also spoken at some universities and that’s one of my goals is to get into universities, colleges, schools, public schools, private schools, where ever they’ll take me so I can give this information to the students. And especially college students who are going out into the world soon and having their own children.
C: They are.
K: I wish I had a class on the kind of information I’m giving.
C: Everyone needs it.
K: Because its not taught in college.
C: Nope. Everyone needs it. That empowerment of young mothers or every one of families to be able to better themselves, their children, the whole gamine starts from there right?
K: Exactly. Even from the first food. I spoke at Penn State University and the University of South Carolina and there were young women in my class their who had babies. They were older students who already had children and the children were on formula. And I spoke about one part of my book, which is actually half of my book, which is about attachment parenting.
C: I’ve heard amazing things about this.
K: Yea, because its not just about the food. A big part of it is the emotional, mental, spiritual peace and that creates the healthiest children possible and that is just as important as the food. They are equally important, you got to have both. So with the attachment parenting, when I talked about the breastfeeding, the long-term breastfeeding and how important it was. Because the connection it causes the emotional connection between the mother and the baby is so important. In addition, the life long nutrition and immunity the child gets from the mother’s milk. It cannot be duplicated. There is nothing that can duplicate it.
C: No, there’s no substitute at all.
K: And I’ve had a couple of women who are following my classes come up to me to tell me that they are going to make some changes. One woman was even going to go to La Leche League to try to get a consultant to help her to start nursing again. Because she had stopped nursing and her child was on formula. There is a way to get women to start nursing again. And lactation consultants, there’s a lot of good ones out there.
C: That’s a hugely valuable resource. Because so many people are so misinformed, first food, not only about breastfeeding and then even just solid food, But the entire growing years of a child, there’s differences from where we’re at from first year, second year so that information is completely invaluable.
K: And most of the women who are raising children are indoctrinated with information that is given to them through programming. You know through the TV.
C: Oh yea.
K: And even through schools. You know, there’s a monopoly on this school by the industry and they don’t understand what is the proper food to feed to babies, after being weaned from nursing or after they’re, or maybe they’re not weaned because its much better to do long term nursing. But when they start eating solids, you know, what to feed them and most women give cereal grains to their babies.
C: Horrible
K: And yea, that’s right. It’s horrible.
C: I mean when I was in nutritional school, that was one of the things they taught. And I almost threw down the book. Like “This is complete horsecrap” But how intuitively wrong is that. I mean cooked fruits or grains, rice grains as cereal for their first food.
K: Rice cereal, I know.
C: Are you kidding me? This is what their teaching in schools. It’s what nutritionists teach. Its so counter intuitive, it boggles the mind.
K: And they don’t understand that a child does not have the salivary enzyme Ptyalin or the pancreatic enzymes to process complex starches until between ages 3 and 4. And their giving babies rice cereal…
C: Oh burp em up
K: And also complex starches in their infancy. And so…
C: Ear infections, diarrhoea, those are normal.
K: Adenoids and Tonsils end up having to be taken out because of it.
C: Exactly. Vaccination.
K: That’s a whole other story.
C: We can’t go into everything here. We can’t go into everything.
K: These are like classes that could be 3 / 4 hours in time.
C: These are, I mean, so many major subjects are underplayed and undervalued in society. I mean I’ve researched a lot and learnt a lot. But Karen, had them first had, I mean dealt with them not only with herself or her family but also multitudes of people and their families to see through all the you know the hogwash and create healthy children. I mean that’s the name of your book.
K: “Creating Healthy Children Through Attachment Therapy and Raw Foods”. And I had to include both parts in that book and some women have told me that’s it the encyclopaedia of raising children on raw vegan foods.
C: I believe it. You know, it ain’t no shrimpy book its definitely the best resource I’ve seen. I haven’t gotten to read through it. But just from talking to people and I know and trust in this movement and the things you’ve got to say about you and you portray and share with others. I am really thrilled to have you on here to expose you to everyone on my list and everyone I know, so.
K: I’m excited to talk about it. I also am, I’m passionate to get the word out and anybody who has any questions can always email me. And my website is www.superhealthychildren.com so you can always get a hold of me on www.superhealthychildren.com There’s some articles on my website. There’s book reviews, lots of book reviews. I have a blog, and I just started the blog recently and would love to have some good discussions going on. So anyone who’s got hot topics to bring up, that’s a good place to do it.
C: That’s awesome. I know some aspiring raw mothers, new raw mothers and I’m sure that they will come over to see what you have to offer because you have a lot to offer. And you have an e-book too?
K: The e-book is coming out. It’s almost done. It will be up on kindle and e-pub. So I’m excited about that. I waited a year, but now I’m ready to let it go electronically.
C: Upwards movement. There’s that need.
K: That’s right. I definitely want to get it out to the world. And I know and as a lot of women are busy moms, they are not going to be able to sit down and read a physical book. But it’s also very easy, you know there’s a very detailed table of contents and I also have a very thorough index so you can look up things and get them pretty quickly. So you don’t have to read the whole book to get to something you might be interested in at the moment.
C: And just like we said, the example with the people who came to the festival this weekend with the whole family. The father reads it, the mother reads it. And it becomes an open dialogue that helps the whole family grow, not only nutritionally but as a tight unit.
K: Also, in chapter 28 in the book is “30 Raw Food Families Around the World” sharing their stories of healing, raw pregnancy, teenager stories, families and how their living how their enjoying their raw food life style they are and how healthy their feeling with such abundance. So there are stories that I couldn’t really take out because each story is so different.
C: I’m super excited. I’m going to be reading the book and maybe I’ll do a book review.
K: Cool.
C: And put up, if its ok, but a chapter list of an excerpt and talk more about it on a future post and maybe I’ll do that during this. And hopefully in the future I can be an affiliate and sell your books one day that would be really great.
K: Yea definitely. Thank you so much.
C: My pleasure, my pleasure.
K: That would be awesome. And I totally support your work.
C: Thank you. Is there anything else you’d really love to end with or anything that you’d like to share?
K: You know I just want parents to really understand that in today’s society, we have a lot of epidemics going on. And we really need to search ourselves, our hearts, also to think about how people originally lived and how tribes live. They don’t eat processed foods. They eat simply, and they eat the fresh plant foods. That’s where all the nutrients are. That’s a nutrient densediet. And it’s a whole lifestyle. So you know, things like autism, asthma, diabetes, these are illnesses and are really not necessary. Children don’t have to have any of these illnesses. These dis-eases.
C: Yea Exactly. Its all created dis-ease with the … Its definitely a pleasure to have you on today. Thank you so much. And thanks for hosting here, at your house.
K: Oh yea, its great having you here.
C: Excited to see you next year at the Woodstock Fruit Festival, hopefully?
K: Yea, and on September 11th, in just a couple of weeks, my daughter is coming in from Colorado and she and I are doing a class together called “Raw Food Fun for Kids”
C: Beautiful.
K: Already some of the people from the Woodstock Fruit Festival have signed up we’re going to prepare very simple recipes together with very simple ingredients.
C: What date is that?
K: That’s on a Sunday, September 11th.
C: Ok so maybe I’ll try to get this out faster, so this gets our before September 11th.
K: Ok.
C: Has to be quick, but we’ll get it out. Thanks again Karen. It was definitely awesome. You’ve seen it here. Raw Advantage. Karen Ranzi.
TRA Interviews Tony Wright of www.LeftInTheDark.org.uk
Posted in Uncategorized on 01/20/2012 10:12 pm by Banana CommanderBlessings Everyone!!
Love love love this interview with Tony Wright of LeftInTheDark.org.uk , I feel very blessed to have gotten to connect with him and even more so to be able to share his message with you!
Enjoy the Interview!!
Tony’s area of study and interest lies in the area of Human Brain development. His research blows open a whole new understanding on how Fruit has had a huge role in our development as a species and how our poor diets today are creating mass insanity on many levels of being.
I would highly recommend checking out his amazing book “Left in the Dark”
A Excerpt From LeftInTheDark.org.uk ;
“This book is guaranteed to shatter your illusions.
After sixteen years of groundbreaking experimentation and research the manuscript has finally been published
Left in the Dark expounds the most radical reinterpretation of existing evidence from the disciplines of evolution, ecology, neurology, psychology, anthropology and other academic fields, whilst also placing the ancient ‘Ages of Mankind’ mythology and related traditions within a scientific context. These universal traditions were once the only version of history we had, they describe the onset and progression of a neurodegenerative condition that really has left us in the dark. Often considered no more than the imaginings of a primitive mind and easy to dismiss as mere myths, they are in fact a more accurate natural history of humankind than modern science has thus far recognised. The book outlines the origin and nature of a condition that eventually left us virtually blind to its existence. Evidence is cited that supports such a scenario. A means of definitively testing its validity is proposed and most importantly what can be done to treat the condition and prevent its occurrence. While this may seem a challenging prospect it promises amongst other things the restoration of phenomenal abilities, exceptional immune function and most importantly a greatly enhanced state of mind and well being only rarely glimpsed by a tiny minority.
A neurodegenerative theory, such as the one outlined in Left in the Dark, which proposes that the development of our brain has become seriously retarded would accurately predict a number of major psychological symptoms.
For example making sense of who or what we are or recognising the insanity of our day to day behaviour would be virtually impossible.
Furthermore such a theory would predict that even if there were overwhelming evidence to support such a scenario we would be slow to understand the context, specific nature and severity of our predicament, even if it were pointed out in laypersons language… “

C: Here we are at the Woodstock Fruit Festival, the very end. I’m here with Tony Wright. I’m super stoked to bring this interview for you. Tony, tell me a little bit about yourself, man. And welcome.
T: Hi, yeah, well, you know I’ve been working on why on earth humans are insane for maybe like the last 20 years.
C: Yep
T: I figured out that fruit had something to do with it. That’s why I’m here, with all these people who are into fruit and oh my god, it’s been so much fun.
C: Beautiful festival, eh?
T: Really good, but yea. To cut to the chase, I’ve basically been saying that our origins are symbiotic, that fruit really is something to do with the development of our neural system. Without it, it doesn’t work. So I’ve been looking at the cause for human insanity, how we can treat it, how we can fix it. And I’ve come up with something that’s getting some really excellent reviews from academics to philosophers to ecologists, right the way across the board. I came here to sort of do a couple of presentations and had an excellent reaction, so yeah.
C: I’ve heard so many amazing things about them.
T: I’m starting to actually believe that, you know, maybe there is a chance that we can do something about this, you know. Though, yea, that’s my kind of, that’s my thing really. What’s the cause, what’s the treatment, and what’s the prevention.
C: Yea
T: And I think fruit plays a big part in it.
C: So what’s your background, what got you to this point?
T: Well, I got a bit of a background in sort of plant sciences. That’s what I was studying when I become interested. So I had some plant knowledge. Always been interested at why things are so crazy when I look into the mirror and thinking why am I so crazy? What’s going on? What’s all the insecurity about? So putting those things together, and then doing some experiments with semantic techniques, I guess. First of all, changed to raw and then started eating a bit more fruit, things like staying a wake, judicious use of semantic techniques like neural chemicals analogues and that took me to some spaces where it all just seemed to make sense. So, my plan then being, can I translate this into a rational mind? Does it make sense to anybody else? And that’s what I’m busy with now.
C: Beautiful man, that’s awesome. So what were some of the talks that you put on here? What was the subject matter?
T: The subject matter was, the first one was about origins; where we come from, looking at the ancient mythology. And they talked about naked in the forest, eating fruit for god sake. It’s all…
C: Back to nature.
T: Back to nature. In modern science it says when we lived in East Africa, its warm, we ate fruit. Exactly the same as the story. So I thought well those two bits correlate really well. Same story. Then the next part I wanted to look at was delusion. Why humans are deluded? Why are we so crazy? Why are we so frightened?
C: Yea
T: Why do the most frightened and controlling people end up in charge and create hell on earth for everyone else. So that’s what I wanted to look at and the ancient traditions tell us exactly why. We don’t recognise it so well anymore, so went trolling in the academic literature and oh my god, I mean, I’m proposing species wide, severe neural retardation.
C: Yea
T: That’s hard-core.
C: When everyone’s insane, then who’s to say who is sane?
T: Exactly, so that’s a pretty powerful thing to say and there’s no way I can get a way with that if there’s not a mountain of evidence.
C: Oh, for sure.
T: Behaviourally, well, it’s a no brainer. We are clearly upper-heads.
C: Yea, Yea.
T: We all know about it. But if you look in the neurological literature, you look at the psychological literature the data is phenomenal. They discovered exactly the same thing. But the conclusions are astoundingly invented because they’ve all got the same piece of kick we’ve got. They look at the data then say “Oh my god there is a serious problem here” And the conclusions are “Everything’s fine, its specialised adaptation.” So that was the second part of my lecture. Really pointing out, why are we deluded? And then, what we said beyond that is what could we do to fix it?
C: Yep. Cool man, that’s awesome. You also have a website and a book as well?
T: Yea, yea, there’s a couple of websites. The main one is leftinthedark.org.uk
T: Yep, and then Beyond Belief is linked on that site. So if you go to Left In The Dark, you’ll find Beyond Belief. And I’ve got a lot of images on there and a lot of different explanations. And there’s a book Left in the Dark. You can find it on Amazon. You know, its got a good outline in it, and you know, it’s a good introduction.
C: Sweet. You know I didn’t get a chance to watch your lectures but I heard so many good things and I’m really going to watch them afterwards on the Woodstock Fruit Festival website, and hope to see you out here next yea too man.
T: I hope so.
C: And is there anything you’d like to leave us with at all?
T: Just that it was such a great time, you know. And anybody who’s remotely interested in the human condition, anybody who is remotely interested in getting healthy and beginning to get a glimpse of reality should come here and learn a lot of good stuff.
C: Take the blue pill.
T: Take the blue pill every time.
C: Beautiful man, it’s a blessing. Thanks so much man, I really appreciate it.
