Happy day all!
This weeks videoblog is jam packed with behind the scenes footage of a recent interview I did for huge skateboarding website (The Berrics) talking about my experiences with the raw diet, more of Jack’s cuteness, a great simple recipe and the ultra tasty White Sapote!
enjoy it!!!
This week we start out with some behind the scenes at a interview I did with 20 year veteran Professional skateboarder Steve Berra for his website www.theberrics.com . We talked about my history in sk8ing, the raw food diet, raw nutrition, as well as what I am doing now with my site and consultations. During the interview he asked me to do a full time live in consult as a 100% raw lifestyle coach at his house for a month, or for as long as it takes to get him comfortably raw and healthy. I am most thankful for this interview and opportunity, Steve’s website is one of the biggest skateboarding websites in the world and gets up to 150 000 hit a day. This will most certainly help me reach many more people and sk8ers with the message of health and fitness, I feel truly blessed. I will post the link for the interview as soon as its available.
For there we go into helping move my host n good friends the Wells from one apartment in the complex to another, some chilling beach time, farmers markets, jack enjoying much sweet fruit and one of my favorite recipes “chocolate monkey”. For desert I enjoyed some White Sapote, a delicious sweet and creamy fruit reminiscent of sweet pear/peach/avocado. They are in the same family of trees as oranges and grow in similar climates. Native to eastern Mexico their original name means “sleep fruit” as they have been said to make one drowsy. They have up to 5 large and small seeds within that should not be eaten and are known for tranquilizing properties.
I hope you really enjoy the video, in truth they take enough time that my desire to write is lessened, oh my. I promise to do a better job in the future devoting more time to my written part, there is just so much to do in sunny california
much love

Happy day all!!
we got another bit of a hodgepodge here for you jam packed with much fun in the sun as well as a sweet raw recipe for jah!
hope you enjoy it much!!
So we start of todays video with Jack attacking some mango and me enjoying a breakfast of cherimoya, apple bananas and a sweet sapote Afterwards the whole family (Pat Sarah, Jack n I) head out to suck up the cali sun, feed some birds some birdyfood (bread), n hit the beach, While the Well’s find some shells, a crab, and enjoy the water, i get some kundalini yoga in
Considered the king of all yoga’s Kundalini incorporates breath work that flows with poses and movement, chanting, and mediation for the purpose of preparing the body and mind for the rise of kundalini energy or a spiritual awakening. Practice increases the flow of the vital energies of the chakra system facilitating a upward movement of chakra energy from the base of the spine up through the chakras to the crown chakra or top of the head. It is said in Yogic literature that the arousing of kundalini the one and only way of attaining Divine Wisdom. The awakening of the Kundalini shows itself as “awakening of inner knowledge” and brings with itself pure joy, pure knowledge and pure love. A spiritual practice not to be taken lightly, begining this practice is always recommended with caution, study, and awareness. In order to be able to integrate this spiritual energy, careful purification (the raw diet, and meditation), strengthening of the body and nervous system (yoga, exercise, breath practices, strength work) are required beforehand. More on Kunalini in the future
On a venture to meet another raw foodie, i happened upon a nice little eco friendly clothing store in between venice and santa monica. Filled with many cool t-shirts, shoes, candles, even recycled material boom box’s! Check the video for a better account! I also went to a sweet raw food potluck out here, met up with some kindred spirits, enjoyed some sweetness, good conversation and great vibes. Looking forward to the next one and i promise to film some of the awesomeness for you!
There are many raw gourmet restaurants out here in california with more popping up all over the world. Most often the main fair is quite heavy in fatty dressings, salt, pungent spices and other ingredients I personally wouldn’t recommend for optimal health. I have heard the term “hollywood raw” a few times, this mostly pertains to complex high fat recipies that are made to imitate cooked food. Most often they are quite expense and in my experience have left me thirsty, unsatisfied and bring about cravings for cooked foods. I realize these can be great as transitional foods for new raw fooders or as social foods/ treats for special occasions, but i still prefer the fresh sweet and quenching tastes provided straight from mother nature. Time and time again I find that the longer a person goes raw the simpler and simpler they prefer their diet to be. Enjoy wherever you are at, try everything, feel it out and pay close attention to what makes you tick, the only constant is change
A trip to whole foods found me in a raw food section. Filled with bagged, bottled, and boxed, dehydrated nuts seeds seaweeds ferments chips, dips and much more! Im sure at one time I would have gone ducky for all the raw “junk food” but in truth now I feel its a stretch to consider this food raw. Once again for sure its a improvement form typical “junk food” and has its place, but imho your kidding yourself if you think its optimal or near par with the true health foods, fresh ripe raw fruits and vegetables. I feel truly blessed to have found Dr Doug Graham in the beginning of my Raw journey, his wisdom and help helped me avoid so many detours and much misinformation in the raw movement. I cant recommend highly enough his book “the 80/10/10 diet”.
Back at the house I enjoyed some multitasking by getting some sun, rebounding on a mini trampoline and enjoying a talk on skype all at once! Rebounders are a great way to gently increase joint strength, facilitate lymphatic drainage, improve digestion, increase circulation, and improve your cardiovascular system all while having fun. Rebounding advocates say 15 minutes a day yields huge results, give it a try and see if it fits your vibe.
My hosts and I made a great creamy coleslaw. Creamy orange avo coleslaw made with 1 bunch organic celery chopped, 1/2 a head green cabbage chopped, 1 avocado mashed, and the juice of 1 navel orange. Mix all well and enjoy this sweet treat!!
To end the blog a sweet sunset

Happy day all!
Another wonderful week in Marina Del Rey!
Lapping up the sunshine, amazing farmers markets, meeting and greeting new and old friends, sk8ing and enjoying all.
Much thanks.
Got a nice little video for you this week hope you enjoy it much!!
Video blog # 10 starts out with a bang, a big mono meal of one of my favorite fruits, the Cherimoya!!! Native to South America, and cultivated in California the cherimoya is a sub tropical fruit. It is a finicky fruit in that it doesn’t survive frost, but is said that it likes to grow in the mountains just within sight of it ahaha. Mark Twain has been said to have described cherimoya as “deliciousness itself” as well as deeming it “the most delicious fruit man can eat”. Also called the “ice cream tree” the flavor is a cross of banana, pineapple, mango, with hints of papaya and strawberry. The texture is that of a creamy custard and it contains many small black seeds. The seeds themselves as well as the skin should not be eaten, as they are said to act as insecticide and the crushed seeds have been known to cause temporary paralysis of about 5 hours (depending on amount). High in many vit’s n minerals, the chermoya is a calorie dence super satiating sweet fruit you will for surely want to try out. The growing season is typically january to june and they range in price from 1 – 7 $ a lb. I have found the best deals from the farmers markets in california.
I love love love cherimoya
Next up we delve into a talk Dr T. Colin Campbell he did at a church reguarding his groundbreaking best selling book “The China Study” I cant recommend this book highly enough. It is the most comprehensive, longest, biggest nutritional study ever done. WIthin the study clear evidence and science shows a incontrovertible link between what would in mainstream nutrition/media be moderate levels of both protein and fat, to cancer, diabetes, heart disease, diabetes and many other major degenerative diseases. The differences between animal and plant proteins and fat are clearly show and proven to be a huge factor in our susceptibility to a wide variety of disease. If you wish to be armed with the most up to date nutritional facts, or would like to provide others with solid science showing the link between animal proteins / fats and our largest diseases be sure to check out this book. Dr Campbell blows away many common myths, misconceptions and outright lies held up by media, mainstream nutrition, and other special interest groups.
My good friend Arlen came into town and we enjoyed a night out, a day at the beach and some fun at the farmers market! Along the way we met a very proactive vegan with a table full of pro vegan literature. Its great to see people standing up for those that dont have a voice, or ability to defend themselves. I truely belive all life, every being has just as much right to life as we do, through taking care of those who cannot defend themselvs we come to know who we truly are.
Sk8ing in venice beach is a real treat! The park is amazing, street sk8ing is great too! I was attempting to film a line in the concrete bowl when 2nd go I took a hard slam. Both my wrists and elbows went fully numb and later were swollen and pulsing with sharp pain. By the next morning I was sure my wrist was fractured (I have done so before and broken one) but figured I would give it one more day before seeing a Doc. With surprise I awoke the next morning with little pain and improved range of motion. Comparatively to the past I feel im healing up better than ever these days, much more quickly and easily. Ill be back with more sk8ing next video
After my fall I was lucky to find a whole bunch of jackfruit for 1 dollar a lb. A large sweet tropical fruit in North America I usually dont find it for less that 5 $ a lb. What a find! Jackfruits are th worlds biggest fruit often exceeding 20+ – 30 + lb’s and growing in trees upto 100 ft. Watch out for them if your under a tree during the summer. The fruit itself tastes like juicy fruit gum, has a large seed and the “pods” are surounded by stringy natrual latex. In the countries they are grown every part of the fruit is often used, ripe pods for eating, unripe for cooking, the seeds boiled for food, and the latex as glue, sealant or patches for waterproofing. A caloric dense sweet fruit, inexpensive in the tropic and insanely delicious watch for these amazing fruits. As a side note, with near 7 lb of whole fruit i got about 2 lb of edible pods, so watch for those high prices, sometimes getting frozen is more worth your while
Hope you enjoyed the video much!!! More videos with recipes soon, as well as my next transitional recipe book im working on too!! Mono meals have simply been too great out here in Cali, anjoying the sun n the freshness for more than a few
